A Note of Appreciation from the Faculty of Tourism to the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality

A Turkey Tourism Map measuring 7.5 x 3.30 meters and a Balıkesir Provincial Tourism Map measuring 4.15 x 3.0 meters were installed in the building of Balikesir University Faculty of Tourism by the Metropolitan Municipality. Dean Prof. Cevdet AVCIKURT stated that, in the 45 years since the faculty’s establishment, they had not had the opportunity to commission tourism maps of this scale, emphasizing that such visual materials are important for developing students’ understanding of the tourism potential of both the country and the province.

Explaining that they work in close cooperation with all institutions and organizations in the province, especially with the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, on uncovering and developing Balıkesir’s tourism potential, Dean AVCIKURT said:

“Since the day our faculty was founded in 1975 under the name Balıkesir School of Business Administration and Tourism (BİTYO), there has been a noticeable lack of large-scale educational-visual maps of this kind. In the meantime, I would like to extend our thanks, on behalf of our Faculty and our students, to Mürsel SABANCI, Deputy Secretary General of the Metropolitan Municipality, for his valuable contributions to the cooperation between us and for his support in the creation of these maps.”
