Academic Visit and Collaboration Activities from Balıkesir University to Karakalpak State University in Uzbekistan
Within the scope of the international academic cooperation protocol signed between Balıkesir University and Karakalpak State University, significant academic activities were carried out between April 13 and 17, 2026.
As part of the programme, Prof. Dr. Düriye Bozok and Assistant Professor Nilgün Karaman, faculty members of the Faculty of Tourism at Balıkesir University, delivered lectures at Karakalpak State University, engaged in academic exchanges, and participated in various scientific activities.
During the visit, comprehensive seminars entitled International Tourism Movements and Tourism Geography were delivered to undergraduate and graduate students of the Department of Tourism within the Faculty of Economics. The seminars addressed global tourism dynamics, destination development, and the spatial dimensions of tourism.
In addition, a meeting was held with the Karakalpak Destination Management Office to contribute to the development of regional tourism. During the meeting, views were exchanged on sustainable tourism, destination management, and international cooperation.
Furthermore, a seminar on Gastronomy Trends was delivered to representatives of the tourism sector. The seminar explored current approaches in gastronomy, experience-oriented tourism, and the role of local cuisines in global competition.
This visit not only contributed to strengthening the academic ties between the two universities but also represented an important step toward developing opportunities for joint studies in the fields of international tourism and gastronomy.
